Finding happiness in whatever you do is very important. Besides your home, you spend most of your day at work, and if you are unhappy in any manner, you will not enjoy working for your company. The reasons for your unhappiness can be personal or professional. If you are going through this phase in your life, the following steps can help you defeat boredom at work.
1. Set new goals for yourself
To bring motivation to your work life, you must plan for new goals that would give you a purpose. Ask yourself where you would want to see yourself in the next one, five, or ten years. Once you have the answers, set them as short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals. These goals will serve as a constant reminder to keep working hard and trying your best to achieve those goals.
2. Reconnect to your passions
Remember the time when you chose to work in this field and for this organization. Think about the parts of your job that you enjoy the most. Once you have reconnected to your thoughts and the passion with which you started to work, make that passion your motivation. Most of us have to work for long hours, and sometimes we forget to take breaks as we think we might lose on time. Whenever you feel that you are losing your focus on work, get up from your desk and take a short coffee break or go for a walk. 5. Talk to your supervisor about how you feel
If you feel that your job is not challenging your potential enough, or you feel that you have been doing a lot of extra hours shift and now it has started to bother you, you could always walk to your manager and share your concerns. Your manager or supervisor can help you by suggesting a different approach to work that helps you enjoy your work.
6. Try exceeding your normal workload
Another reason for you to feel bored at your job could be excessive free time from work. If you have less responsibility at work, it could mean you finish your work way earlier than your shift timing. Asking help from your supervisor to add more chores to your task list will help you kill boredom. It would seem to your manager that you have the desire to do more at work, and it might give you the much-needed recognition at work.
7. Practice emotional intelligence and personal growth
Emotional intelligence means recognizing and understanding emotions. You need a little self-realization here, as that would help you understand the issue you are facing.

Spending time with clients who could benefit from your work can help you feel refreshed and valued. It serves as a reminder to you of your “why” and reconnects you to your passion for work.
10. Engage in networking in your field
Networking is a critical part of work life. If you start feeling disconnected from work, try socializing with your peers and fellow workers. Networking gives you a chance to improve your communication skills and restore your confidence in your work. These connections with other professionals might lead to exciting opportunities down the line.
11. Consider finding a new position
If you don’t relate to any of the reasons mentioned above, it means that you have learned everything possible from your current job role, and it is time for you to move ahead in your professional life. There could be two possibilities here: one is changing your job and company by joining an organization that offers you the excitement you have been missing in your current job. The second one is that you have now been long due for a promotion within the organization. If you chose the latter, you could look for the current job opening in your company and apply for a promotion, or you could talk to your manager/HR for a role change request.
